Case Study: Box Gutter Replacement & Fibreglass Sheet Replacement in Gosford NSW

New Colorbond Roof Installation in Box Hill NSW

Project Description

Box Gutter Replacement & Fibreglass Sheet Replacement in Gosford NSW

Replacing the fibreglass sheet on a workshop roof and repairing box gutters that have been leaking for several years was the focus of this job. After many years of wear and tear, the original box gutters had become damaged and would not keep water from entering, which posed a potential threat to both the building itself and all of the tools inside the workshop due to possible water damage.
Our team installed all-new Colorbond Box Gutters with new Sumps to provide the Roof with a Long Lasting and properly sealed Drainage System. In addition, we have removed the existing fibreglass sheets and installed new ones to make the Workshop watertight and prepared to last for many years.

Scope of work:

  • Replaced the existing fibreglass sheets on the workshop roof
  • Removed the old, leaking box gutters
  • Installed new Colorbond box gutters
  • Installed new sumps to improve water flow and drainage
  • Sealed and tested all joints and connections to prevent future leaks

Why Box Gutters Need Proper Care

Your home’s gutter system, or box gutters, are constructed as part of your roofline to help control the flow of rainwater. To ensure that your gutters function correctly, it is critical that you seal them correctly. If you do not seal your gutters correctly, you may allow water to seep through into the roof structure, the wall cavity and the ceiling. This can result in damage such as rot, rust, mold and expensive repair costs.

This was done by replacing and sealing the box gutter in Gosford, New South Wales (NSW), so as to stop the leakage and avoid additional water damage. A small problem should not be left until it becomes a large one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to help you make the right decision for your home.

The box gutter is a rectangular-shaped gutter that sits at the top of your home’s roof. This type of gutter typically rests either in front of the roof line or just above the parapet. This particular type of gutter collects all of the rainwater that falls onto the roof, then directs it down to the ground. Because the box gutter is hidden within the roof system, any leaks will not be seen until they have caused significant damage.

Common causes of roof leaks are rust and/or corrosion, failed seams/joints, blocked sumps/outlets, poorly installed roofs, and/or general aging. Water may accumulate and spill over the edge if there is a build-up of debris.

Depending on the condition, some minor leaks or broken sealant can be fixed. However, if the gutter is heavily corroded or was leaking for a long period of time, then replacement would be a better choice for long term solutions. We will examine your gutters and provide an honest assessment of what should happen next.

A sump is an area of the box gutter that allows water to gather and then run off through the downpipe. If you have a poorly designed sump, there will be issues with draining during heavy rains and possible overflows onto your roof or ceiling.

The price of your project will depend on how many linear feet of gutters you have, what kind of access we can get to your roof (i.e. if it has a low-pitched roof), the type of material that is used for the gutter installation, and the quality of the area of the roof surrounding the installation site. We provide a no obligation, free inspection and estimate.

Colorbond steel is a great option for use in box gutters because of how durable it is, as well as being specifically designed to withstand Australian weather patterns. Colorbond steel will help prevent corrosion from occurring on your gutters, which means they will last much longer than other types of roofing materials. Additionally, Colorbond steel can handle the extreme amount of rain we get in Australia, so you can be sure that your gutters will hold up under the weight of water.
